Leah Gardner, Clinical Director & Intake Coordinator at Calm Gardens Therapy
Leah Gardner is the Clinical Director and Intake Coordinator at Calm Gardens Therapy. She holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is a Licensed Certified Professional Counselor (LCPC). Leah works with a diverse range of individuals, from ages 13 and up, providing therapy and support for those navigating various mental health challenges.
Leah has received extensive training in areas such as trauma and stress, trauma-related EMDR (Certified EMDR Specialist status pending), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and critical incident stress management. She is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional I & II and a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (CASDCS). Her clinical expertise also spans ADHD, couples therapy, personality disorders, and much more.
As part of her commitment to high-quality, evidence-based care, Leah has pursued advanced training in assessment methodologies for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and learning and intellectual disabilities. She is well-equipped to provide comprehensive assessments and evaluations, helping individuals and families better understand developmental and behavioral challenges. Leah ensures that her team at Calm Gardens Therapy applies these advanced assessment and treatment techniques in their clinical work, supporting both professional growth and client success.
In addition to her clinical work, Leah oversees providers at Calm Gardens to ensure they are applying these evidence-based approaches effectively. She has completed supervision training in LCPC, AAMFT, and BCBA (Behaviorism) to ensure she can help providers grow into competent, professional clinicians. Leah is also pending approval from the BACB for taking her BCBA exam; currently pursuing her BCBA certification. She has also completed Levels 1 and 2 certification as a certified Gottman Therapy therapist, specializing in couples counseling.
Fluent in conversational American Sign Language (ASL), Leah is committed to ensuring that all clients feel supported, especially those from the Deaf community. While her receptive skills are still developing, Leah completed the Deaf Studies program at CSN in 2014, and she is dedicated to continual improvement.
Leah has also pursued doctoral-level education in Special Education, with a focus on emotional and behavioral disorders and learning disabilities. This ongoing education has greatly enhanced her ability to work with a wide variety of individuals, from children with selective mutism to adults navigating anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and more.
Leah believes that personal growth is a continual process, and she views therapy as a partnership between the client and therapist. By providing guidance and support, she fosters a therapeutic relationship that enables meaningful growth for the client.
